Wendy also creates textile art, producing framed pictures and wall hangings inspired by nature and local landmarks.
Backgrounds are painted then free motion embroidered details and textures are added.
3d features are built up using applique and embroidery on water soluble fabric (see below for information on this technique).
Technique - Water soluble fabric.
Designs (leaves/seaweed etc.) are free motion embroidered on water soluble fabric. When the detail is complete, the piece is washed in warm water until the fabric dissolves, leaving the embroidered detail as a separate element which is then attached to the picture.
